The Quirky Workshop Terms & Conditions for custom and made-to-order products
  1. Terms & Conditions

    Last updated: 7 September 2026

    Welcome to The Quirky Workshop.

These Terms & Conditions explain the rules that apply when you browse our website, create an account or place an order with us. They cover everything from custom and made-to-order products to payments, manufacturing, delivery, returns, cancellations and your rights as a customer.

The Quirky Workshop is operated and managed by Arc-Tech Engineering Ltd.

Throughout these Terms & Conditions, “The Quirky Workshop”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Arc-Tech Engineering Ltd trading through this website. “You” and “your” refer to the person accessing our website or purchasing from us.

By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to remove or restrict any statutory rights you have under applicable UK consumer law.

    1. Our Products

We create and sell a wide range of products, many of which are produced in our own workshop using a combination of woodworking, CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing and hand finishing.

Depending on the product, an item may be:

    • Handmade
    • CNC machined
    • Laser cut
    • 3D printed
    • Manufactured from wood or wood-based materials
    • Hand finished
    • Made to order
    • Made to measure
    • Custom sized
    • Personalised
    • Manufactured to specifications selected or supplied by you

We put a lot of care into the products that leave our workshop and make every reasonable effort to ensure our photographs, descriptions, dimensions and specifications accurately represent what you’re buying.

    However, please remember that:

    • Colours can appear slightly different depending on your screen or device.
    • Natural materials such as wood can vary in grain, knots, colour and texture.
    • Handmade products can have small variations between individual pieces.
    • Product photographs are illustrative and minor differences may occur.
    • Measurements may be subject to reasonable manufacturing tolerances where appropriate.

Natural characteristics and reasonable manufacturing variations are not necessarily product faults.

    2. Terms & Conditions for Made-to-Order & Custom Products

Making things specifically for our customers is a big part of what we do at The Quirky Workshop.

Some products can be manufactured to custom measurements, dimensions, finishes, designs or other specifications chosen or supplied by you.

Where a product is genuinely made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised, different cancellation rights may apply from those covering standard products.

UK consumer rules provide exceptions to the usual change-of-mind cancellation rights for certain personalised or genuinely custom-made products.

You can find independent information through GOV.UK’s guidance on returns and refunds.

    Please Check Your Measurements Carefully

If you’re ordering a custom-sized or made-to-measure product, please double-check all measurements before placing your order.

    Measure twice. Order once.

Once we’ve started machining, cutting or manufacturing a genuinely bespoke item, changing its dimensions or specification may no longer be possible.

Not quite sure you’ve got it right?

Please contact The Quirky Workshop before ordering. We’d much rather help you double-check a measurement before manufacturing begins.

What If We Make It Wrong?

    That’s different.

If you’ve supplied the correct measurements or specifications but we manufacture the product incorrectly, please contact us.

Where an item is faulty, incorrectly manufactured, not as described or otherwise fails to meet your statutory rights, we’ll provide the remedy you’re legally entitled to.

Depending on the circumstances, that may include:

    • Repair
    • Replacement
    • Price reduction
    • Refund

Being custom-made does not remove your statutory rights where the product itself is faulty.

    3. Natural Wood, Grain, Knots & Timber Variation

Many products sold through our website are made from natural timber.

Real wood naturally varies from piece to piece and may contain:

    • Knots
    • Grain variation
    • Colour variation
    • Mineral streaks
    • Changes in grain direction
    • Natural markings
    • Differences in tone
    • Natural texture
    • Small surface variations

No two pieces of natural timber are exactly the same.

Where a wooden product has been correctly manufactured, is structurally sound and matches its description, ordinary knots, grain patterns, colour differences and other natural characteristics will not normally be considered product faults.

Product photographs therefore provide a representation of the product rather than a guarantee that the timber used for your order will have exactly the same grain, knots, colour or markings.

If the appearance of the timber is particularly important to you, please contact us before ordering and we’ll discuss what’s reasonably possible.

This does not affect your rights where a wooden product has a genuine manufacturing or material fault.

    4. Product Safety & Responsible Use

Products purchased from The Quirky Workshop should only be used for their intended purpose and in accordance with any instructions, warnings or safety information supplied with them.

Products must not deliberately be used:

    • To cause unlawful harm to another person
    • For criminal or unlawful purposes
    • Contrary to supplied safety instructions
    • Beyond their stated or reasonably intended purpose
    • After becoming visibly damaged, unsafe or unsuitable for continued use

Where appropriate, you should inspect a product before use and stop using it if you discover damage, deterioration or another condition that could make continued use unsafe.

    Locks, Fasteners & Other Components

Where a product incorporates locking mechanisms, fasteners, fittings or other safety-critical components, these should be checked appropriately before use.

Do not continue using an item if a component is damaged, excessively worn or no longer operating correctly.

Unless we specifically state that a product has been designed to support body weight, it must not be used for suspension, climbing or otherwise supporting the full or partial weight of a person.

Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or affects your statutory rights concerning faulty or unsafe goods.

    5. Product Availability

All products are subject to availability.

Because we manufacture many products ourselves, there may occasionally be circumstances where timber, materials, components or other factors prevent us from fulfilling an order as originally expected.

If this happens, we’ll contact you and explain your available options.

If we have to cancel an order you’ve already paid for, we’ll refund the appropriate amount to your original payment method.

We may also add, modify or discontinue products from time to time.

    6. Prices

All prices displayed on thequirkyworkshop.co.uk are shown in Pounds Sterling (GBP) unless stated otherwise.

Any applicable delivery charges will be displayed during checkout before you place your order.

Our prices may change from time to time. However, a later change to a product’s advertised price won’t normally alter the agreed price of an order we’ve already accepted.

    Pricing Errors

We’re human, and occasionally mistakes happen.

If we discover an obvious pricing error affecting your order, we’ll contact you as soon as reasonably possible.

Where appropriate, you’ll be given the choice of proceeding at the correct price or cancelling the affected order for a refund.

    7. Payments

The payment methods currently available will be displayed securely during checkout.

Depending on availability, these may include:

Some payment options are operated by independent third-party providers and may be subject to their own eligibility requirements, terms, privacy policies and lending decisions.

The Quirky Workshop does not control whether an independent payment or finance provider approves you to use one of its services.

All payments must be successfully authorised before we process an order unless we’ve expressly agreed otherwise.

    8. Placing an Order

When placing an order, you agree to provide complete and accurate information.

Depending on your order, this may include:

    • Your name
    • Email address
    • Telephone number, where required
    • Billing information
    • Delivery address
    • Product selections
    • Measurements
    • Customisation choices
    • Personalisation
    • Other specifications required to manufacture your product

Please check everything carefully before placing your order — particularly custom measurements, sizes and personalised information.

Official information about requirements applying to online purchases is available through GOV.UK’s online and distance-selling guidance.

After placing an order, you’ll normally receive an email confirming or acknowledging it.

If it doesn’t appear, please check your spam or junk folder.

    9. Accepting or Refusing an Order

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where we have a legitimate reason to do so.

    This might include:

    • A product becoming unavailable
    • An obvious pricing or listing error
    • Payment not being authorised
    • Suspected fraudulent activity
    • An order breaching reasonable quantity restrictions
    • Suspected unauthorised commercial resale
    • A requested customisation we cannot safely or lawfully manufacture

If we’ve already taken payment for an order that we subsequently cancel, we’ll provide the appropriate refund.

    10. Manufacturing & Lead Times

Many products sold by The Quirky Workshop are made to order rather than sitting on a warehouse shelf waiting to be dispatched.

Our products may require woodworking, CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing, assembly, sanding, finishing or other manufacturing processes before they’re ready to leave the workshop.

Where a production or lead time is provided, this represents our reasonable estimate of how long we expect manufacture or preparation to take.

    Please remember:

Production time and delivery time are separate.

We’ll always do our best to get your order made and on its way as quickly as reasonably possible without compromising the quality of the finished product.

    11. Delivery

Available delivery methods, estimated times and applicable charges will be displayed where appropriate during the ordering process.

We may use different delivery services depending on factors including:

    • Delivery location
    • Parcel dimensions
    • Parcel weight
    • Product type
    • Service required

Where we use Evri, for eligible orders sent using Evri, The Quirky Workshop purchases additional Evri Parcel Cover appropriate to the declared value of the parcel.

Courier services and Parcel Cover remain subject to the courier’s applicable terms, restrictions and exclusions.

Unless we’ve specifically agreed otherwise, we don’t guarantee that a particular courier will be used.

    Damaged in Transit

If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, please photograph the packaging before opening it where reasonably practical.

Where possible, please take photographs showing:

    • The unopened parcel
    • Outer packaging
    • Shipping label
    • Damaged areas of the packaging
    • Internal packaging
    • Damaged product
    • Any broken components

Please keep the packaging until we’ve had an opportunity to assess what happened.

If we arranged the delivery, we won’t simply send you away to sort the problem out with the courier.

Your purchase is from The Quirky Workshop. We’ll handle the courier side of the matter where appropriate and deal with your order in accordance with your applicable consumer rights.

    12. Terms & Conditions for Returns & Cancellations

Your cancellation and return rights can depend on what you’ve ordered.

In addition to applicable statutory rights, our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy explains our returns process in more detail.

    Standard Products

For many standard products purchased online, UK consumers generally have 14 days after receiving their goods to tell the retailer that they wish to cancel, followed by a further 14 days in which to return the goods.

Where the statutory cancellation right applies, we’ll process the appropriate refund in accordance with UK consumer law.

You may be responsible for return postage where legally permitted and where this has been properly communicated before purchase.

    Made-to-Measure, Personalised & Custom Products

Different rules can apply to goods that are genuinely made to your specifications or clearly personalised.

For example, an item manufactured to unique measurements you’ve supplied may fall within the custom-made exception to the normal change-of-mind cancellation right.

However, this does not remove your rights where a product is faulty, incorrectly manufactured or not as described.

For independent information, see GOV.UK – Accepting Returns and Giving Refunds.

    13. Faulty or Incorrect Products

If something has gone wrong and it’s our responsibility, please tell us.

Goods sold by The Quirky Workshop must meet the standards required by applicable UK consumer law.

If a product is faulty, incorrectly manufactured, not as described or otherwise doesn’t meet your statutory rights, we’ll provide the remedy you’re entitled to.

Depending on the circumstances, this can include:

    • Repair
    • Replacement
    • Price reduction
    • Refund

Our Terms & Conditions and other website policies do not override your statutory consumer rights.

    14. Refunds

Where a refund is due, we’ll normally issue it to the original payment method.

How quickly the money appears after we’ve processed the refund may depend on your bank or payment provider.

Nothing in this section changes any statutory deadline by which we’re required to issue a refund.

For more information about our process, please read our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy.

    15. Changing or Cancelling an Order

    Made a mistake?

Please contact us as quickly as possible.

If manufacturing or preparation hasn’t started, we may be able to change or cancel your order.

For genuinely personalised or bespoke products, the usual statutory change-of-mind cancellation right may not apply where an order has been made to your individual specifications.

Because custom products may involve allocating materials and beginning CNC machining, woodworking, cutting, printing or other manufacturing work specifically for your order, the sooner you contact us, the better.

We’ll always try to help where reasonably possible.

    16. Customer Accounts

You may be able to create an account with The Quirky Workshop to make managing your orders easier.

You’re responsible for taking reasonable steps to keep your login information secure.

If you believe somebody has gained unauthorised access to your account, please contact us.

We may suspend or close accounts where reasonably necessary because of fraud, security concerns, serious misuse of our website or repeated breaches of these Terms & Conditions.

For information about how we handle personal information, please read our Privacy Policy.

    17. Reward Points & Loyalty Programme

Eligible customers may be able to earn The Quirky Workshop Reward Points when shopping with us.

The number of points earned, their value, available rewards and any applicable conditions may be displayed through your account or elsewhere on our website.

    Reward Points:

    • Have no cash value unless we expressly state otherwise
    • Cannot normally be exchanged directly for cash
    • Are subject to the rules of our loyalty programme
    • May only be redeemed in the ways offered through The Quirky Workshop
    • May be adjusted where an order is cancelled, refunded or otherwise reversed

Where separate Reward Points or Loyalty Programme Terms & Conditions are provided, those additional terms will also apply.

    18. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original content on thequirkyworkshop.co.uk — including our photographs, graphics, written content, product designs, branding and website materials — belongs to us, is licensed to us or is otherwise lawfully used by us.

You’re welcome to browse and use our website for normal personal shopping purposes.

You must not reproduce, commercially exploit, republish, distribute or use our protected content or original designs commercially without appropriate permission.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions claims ownership over intellectual property belonging to somebody else.

    19. Acceptable Use of Our Website

Please use our website normally, responsibly and lawfully.

    You must not knowingly:

    • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our website or systems
    • Introduce viruses, malware or malicious code
    • Circumvent website security
    • Scrape or systematically extract substantial amounts of website content where prohibited
    • Use automated systems in a way that damages or disrupts our website
    • Impersonate another person
    • Attempt to obtain another customer’s private information or password
    • Use our website for fraudulent or unlawful activity
    • Interfere with another customer’s ability to use the website
    • Abuse or deliberately misuse our customer-support services

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect The Quirky Workshop, our customers or our systems.

    20. Privacy & Cookies

    Your privacy matters to us.

Our Privacy Policy explains how Arc-Tech Engineering Ltd and The Quirky Workshop collect, use, store and protect personal information.

Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on our website and how you can manage your cookie preferences.

Independent services used or linked from our website may also have their own privacy policies, terms and cookie practices.

    21. Third-Party Websites & Services

Our website may contain links to services operated by other companies.

    These might include:

    • Payment providers
    • Delivery services
    • Social-media platforms
    • Consumer-information websites
    • Other external services we think may be useful

External websites operate independently from The Quirky Workshop and normally have their own terms, privacy policies and cookie practices.

Providing a link does not mean that we control the external website or everything published on it.

    22. Our Responsibility to You

We want these Terms & Conditions to be fair to both you and us.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful, nor do they remove statutory protections relating to goods that are faulty, unsafe, incorrectly manufactured or not as described.

We’re not responsible for losses where the law does not make us responsible or for losses that weren’t reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, subject always to your statutory rights and applicable law.

    23. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

Sometimes circumstances genuinely outside our reasonable control can affect an order.

    Examples could include:

    • Severe weather
    • Fire or flooding
    • Major courier disruption
    • Significant infrastructure failure
    • Industrial action
    • Serious supply-chain disruption
    • Other exceptional events outside our reasonable control

If something like this affects your order, we’ll make reasonable efforts to minimise disruption and keep you informed.

    Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

    24. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our:

    • Products
    • Website
    • Payment methods
    • Delivery services
    • Business practices
    • Applicable legal or regulatory requirements

The Last Updated date at the top of this page tells you when these Terms & Conditions were most recently revised.

Updating our website Terms & Conditions does not simply rewrite an existing customer contract retrospectively.

    25. Governing Law & UK Consumer Rights

These Terms & Conditions are governed by applicable UK law.

If you’re purchasing as a consumer, nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to deprive you of mandatory consumer protections available to you under applicable law.

For further independent information about your rights, you can visit:

    26. Questions About Our Terms & Conditions?

Legal pages aren’t exactly anyone’s idea of a thrilling afternoon, and sometimes a particular order doesn’t fit neatly into a paragraph on a website.

If you’re unsure about custom sizing, made-to-order products, handmade products, payments, delivery, returns, Reward Points or anything else covered by these Terms & Conditions, please ask us.

We’d much rather answer your question before you order than leave you wondering afterwards.
